How I roll: Project Life

So. Since this is the time of year-end posts, recaps, best-ofs, etc, I thought I’d finally write about one of the things I did this past year that I’m most pleased with. Inspired by my friend EE, I decided to start a Project Life album. Yes, it has a catchy little name but essentially it’s a system for documenting life in photographs and journaling cards. Some people get pretty fancy and scrapbook-y (just take a look at #projectlife on Instagram if you’re curious), I keep mine fairly simple. Every week I create a spread in the album, with 8-12 photographs, and cards that say when it was, and what happened. It’s not terribly time-consuming or expensive, and now I have this amazing record of 2013 that will be so neat to look back on in 5 or 20 years.

There! I’m out of the closet: I’m a scrapbooker.

Here are a few of my favorite spreads from the past year:

I plan to continue the same way with my 2014 album, one-ish spread per week depending on what photos are available. I won’t be printing them out every week while I’m in India, of course, but I’ll probably create “best-of-the-week” albums on our Cloud drive while I’m over there, adding whatever photos Peter takes too, and print them when I get home. Easy. I’ll share some of them here when I feel like it, too. (And if you want to go down a rabbit hole with this stuff, you can check out three more bloggers I like that post their Project Life albums: Elise Blaha Cripe, Big City Quiet, and Michelle Bostinelos.
